January Missions

Last Sunday, our busy congregants stayed for a cup of soup and a cutting session. After collecting many, many plastic grocery bags, volunteers stayed Sunday to cut the bags into strips. These strips were then wound into balls like yarn. Those not completed were lovingly taken home to be cut and/or wound.  The balls are being taken to Colonie High School where student volunteers have been using the strips to create mats for the homeless. Interfatih Partnership or the Homeless

Last week, we had the privilege of having Eric, from Interfaith Partnership on Sheridan Ave in Albany,  join us during our service. He spoke passionately about the various services that they provide such as meals, clothing, legal assistance, health care, etc. and how we can help. LPC has supported them through our mission funds as well by collecting clothing, bedding, creating Love kits, making meals and more. This month, we are collecting personal items such as toothpaste, soap, toothbrushes, etc. to fill Love kits in February that will be delivered to them.  After he spoke he was presented with a “big” check representing our monetary support.
