Thank You Notes

Thank-you notes received from Dot Blackman:  Dear Elaine, I thank you for my Sunday birthday celebration.  If possible, can you insert a thank you from me for all the lovely cards given by fellow church member in the news bulletin on Sunday? I thank you for being the kind person that you are.  Love from Pillar member!!!

and from Marlena Peter: Dear Friends at LPC, words cannot even begin to describe the joy I felt when this surprising box got to me in Virginia, and I opened it up to find so many thoughtful gifts inside.  “A kid on Christmas” would be an understatement.  Snacks really do keep us going at sea.  Our ship holds upwards of 5,000 people and the food lines get ridiculous, and since we’re only allowed a certain amount of time, we sometimes miss lunch.  From the bottom of my heart, thank you and God Bless.

Help for those in Need

Each year our church provides financial assistance from our annual income to organizations that help people  in need.  This year, we are providing help to the following groups, among others:

Reach Work Camps (Bethany Presbyterian Church) – weekly service missions to communities in need.

J C Clubs – Victory Christian Church – Children’s feeding center in Albany.

Friends of the Pine Bush – conservation.

Project Equinox – nonprofit serving individuals with drug dependencies, victims of domestic violence, people with mental illness, urban teens and young adults, homeless youth.

Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless –  food for the homeless in the Capital Region.

Medicus Christi – brings medical care to the poor and underserved throughout the world.

Oakwood Presbyterian Church & Community Center (Troy) – houses neighborhood outreach programs.

Smile Train – provides surgery for cleft palates to children in underserved regions throughout the world.

In addition to these efforts, we have a food shelf for the needy and provide support  for other causes through offerings and collections throughout the year.

Bethany Presbyterian Church Christmas Bazaar

Bethany Presbyterian Church will be hosting their annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, November 23, from 9 to 2.   There will be tables with handmade articles, jewelry, a white elephant, homemade pies, cookies and breads, etc and tentatively a luncheon.  If you would like to set up your own table, watch for more details that are being finalized.  If you bake and want to donate goodies, they will certainly be very much appreciated.

Election Day – Tuesday Nov 5

Get ready for our Election Day Bake Sale and Rummage.  We need your help to make this a success.  We chose to do this as a way to introduce ourselves to those who vote in our building, and as a fundraiser.  Bring in your rummage items (especially Christmas) and think about those treats!

Sunday School

Our Sunday School uses the HANDS ON BIBLE curriculum to teach and guide our students into a Christian values mindset for life. The curriculum uses as combination of bible based lessons along with fun, action based activities to reinforce the message of the day. The teachers are church members that volunteer on Sunday mornings starting at 9:15, with light breakfast and fellowship, then continue with classroom time until 10:15 with lessons and hands on projects for all ages. We always welcome new members to the class at any time in the year. Please call KarenTozzi @465-7277 for more information about our Sunday School program at Loudonville Presbyterian Church.
