Equinox operates Albany County’s only comprehensive domestic violence services program

serving victims of domestic violence regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.  Our free and confidential services include:

24-hour Hotline – providing shelter intake, crisis intervention counseling and information and referral.  518-432-7865

Emergency Shelter – Equinox operates AlbanyCounty’s only domestic violence shelter.  It is a 30 bed shelter for victims of domestic violence and their dependent children.  Residents may stay up to 90 days.

Counseling – addressing needs identified by the victim, options for safety, understanding of the nature of domestic violence and building skills in problem solving.  Individual appointments for victims and their children.

Support Groups – providing peer support to interested victims to discuss experiences about family violence in a group setting.  We offer specialized groups for adult and children victims.

Monday night drop in group: 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm at 95 Central Ave.

Advocacy – providing accompaniment, support and information to victims in Family and Criminal Courts, as well as law enforcement, medical, social services and other assistance.  We have an office at Albany County Family Court and an advocate available daily at Albany City Court.

DV/CPS Collaboration- working with Albany County Child Protective Services to provide support and safety measures to families experiencing both domestic violence and child abuse or neglect.

Transitional Housing – working to eliminate financial and housing barriers for domestic violence victims fleeing from their abusers to help them attain safe, permanent housing and financial independence.

Elder Abuse Services – providing case management, shelter, advocacy and counseling to elder victims of domestic violence. This project collaborates with local elder organizations, providing professional training on elder abuse and community education.

Project ARISE – a collaboration between Equinox and the Center For Disability Services to create a system of supports and services to prevent, identify and respond effectively to violence and abuse against women with disabilities.

AlbanyCounty Coalition Against Domestic Abuse – Equinox coordinates ACCADA, a county-wide coalition of service providers, law enforcement officials, survivors, academics, county representatives, advocates, and other interested community groups that convenes to develop an integrated community response to domestic abuse in AlbanyCounty, guided by the voice of survivors of domestic violence and their advocates.
